Social Initiative.
Message in a Bottle
(This name was chosen because of it's connotations with emergency i.e. shipwreck. The message to get you help.)
Benefits
The container holds a folded form to be completed by, or for, the householder.
The forms are a brief detail of your medical conditions and requirements, so that if the emergency services are called to your assistance, they have sufficient details to treat you correctly, and your Doctors details.
They also include details of any commitments that you may have, such as pet care or school children care before parents get home.
Whatever details you give, the more the better, will be safe in your fridge, and hopefully will never be required.
The Identifying Labels supplied are to be fixed INSIDE your front door, and on the FRIDGE door. All the social and emergency services are aware of the system and look for these labels when called to you..
These 'Bottles' are free to any vulnerable person in Lincolnshire, simply ask your local Neighbourhood Policing Team, or Community Safety Administrator.
Anti Crime Initiatives.
Nominated Neighbour
Benefits
This initiative was developed to help defeat 'Bogus Caller' crime by arranging for a close and trusted neighbour to validate any unexpected caller at a vulnerable persons home.
The pack consists of two information leaflets and a laminated card. One leaflet describes, to the Nominated Neighbour, how the system works, i.e. they will be expected to check the identity of the caller when he is directed to their house, and if satisfied, escort them back into the home and stay.
The second leaflet explains to the vulnerable person how to direct the caller to the neighbour by using the card. The card, when passed to the caller, directs them to the neighbour by having the address or number plainly on it.
This scheme is also free to any vulnerable person living in Lincolnshire and is obtained in the same way as the Message in a Bottle, above.
Further initiatives are:-
"Jingle-bells".......clipped to your purse to alert you to the fact that somebody is trying to remove your purse from your shopping basket, and
"Secure Chain"...... attach your purse to your handbag for much the same purpose, i.e. avoid loss in the shopping place.
Also available from the Neighbourhood Policing Teams, or the Community Safety Administrators.
